I read. I write. I edit. I teach.
I like to say I was born a writer. I began writing poetry and short stories before I started kindergarten (my grandmother still has my first poem from age four) and didn't stop until I became an adult. I grew up in a working-class family, and I mistakenly thought I had to put writing aside to be a "responsible" adult.
After earning my Associate's Degree, I worked several different jobs trying to find my fit. When my long-time position at a local financial institution came to a rocky end, a smart friend asked me what I wanted to be now I had the chance to start over. Without hesitation, I answered, "I want to write and edit books." I didn't know that my brain remembered that dream and love of writing.
So, I returned to the study of English and received my B.A. in 2014 and my M.A. in 2017. It's been a long journey to discover my passion for good writing has been my life's purpose all along.
When I'm not reading, writing, editing, or teaching, I can be found snuggling my kitten or husband--whoever is closest, rooting for the Colorado Rockies and drinking a beer, or watching Disney movies and singing along. Loudly. And off key.
